Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's 21 victories have been achieved on hardcourt
A comeback Daniil Medvedev secured his maiden trophy for over two years with a win over Corentin Moutet in the tournament final.
The athlete, a former number one, has had a torrid season, managing just one match at the major tournaments and suffering a setback at the New York tournament.
Medvedev's inconsistency on the ATP Tour - and struggles with his service game in especial - led to him exiting of the top ten and eventually separating with former coach Cervara.
Now working with his coach and Rohan Goetzke, he has steadily improved in the past month - peaking in a tightly fought competitive triumph over opponent Moutet.
This marks his initial title since the 2023 Rome Masters and maiden on a hard court since that period of the previous year.
The win also means he has secured 21 victories at twenty-one different events.
"This marks the first occasion I have attended a event with my children at once, so to secure a title is particularly special," stated ranked player Daniil Medvedev.
"This championship is in dedication of my child her name, because the first title I won when my child my daughter was born was for her."
Medvedev, the past champion, had been defeated in his past six title deciders, featuring in that event in the past months.
Medvedev's defensive strategy and recurring outbursts on the playing surface had caused observers to question if his skill to play at the elite level was finished.
However the athlete has made changes in the past month, striving to come to the net and play positively, reinforced by an enhanced serving game.
The champion fought back from a deficit in the opening set against the difficult Frenchman, taking four of the last five games to take the lead.
The competitors traded service breaks in the middle set before the Frenchman, attempting for his first ATP Tour victory, gained dominance to push for a third set.
He defended four early break points in a close deciding set before the Russian broke to 15 to secure the win.
Suitably, he clinched the title with a rally at the net, with Moutet unable to manage a shot after a lengthy match.
