US Forces Targeted a 'Big Plant' in the Venezuelan nation, Trump Claimed Without Offering Specifics.

Ex-President Trump has asserted that US forces hit a "major installation" in the South American country in recent days. Yet, the ex-leader withheld information about the precise purpose or site of the strike, and officials have issued no further clarification from his administration.

Vague Remarks Made During a Radio Show

"US forces just knocked out – I'm not sure if you saw – they have a major complex, where the ships come from. The other night, we knocked that out. So we struck them very hard," Trump allegedly informed Republican donor and businessman John Catsimatidis in a recent interview.

Potential Significance of a Confirmed Attack

Should a American military action is confirmed, it would constitute the initial ground target hit since the US Department of Defense began a expansion of US strike forces in the region to halt drug traffickers that the Trump administration asserts operate under the authority of Venezuelan leader Nicolás Maduro.

This stated mission of the military buildup has evolved into a quarantine aimed at hindering the country's crude oil shipments.

Online Video and Official Statements

Trump has for weeks stated that US forces are ready to expand the operations by attacking objectives inside Venezuela, a strategy that would in theory require legislative approval.

Online video posted online on 24 December purportedly showed an explosion reportedly from an industrial zone in Zulia state. However, the video or the site in question has not been independently verified.

An administration official allegedly informed a media outlet that the former president was referring to a narco-trafficking site in his remarks.

Reaction and Ongoing Military Posture

The Venezuelan government has remained silent on the alleged strike Trump described. Furthermore, there have been no verified accounts from Venezuela concerning it.

The presence of US military in the area – a position some have referred to as a naval quarantine – represents the most expansive naval operation of Trump's presidency.

Officials have stopped short from describing the operation as a blockade, but have confirmed that approximately 15,000 troops are stationed across the Caribbean and the Gulf, including a carrier strike group, F-35 aircraft, and law enforcement vessels to uphold current sanctions.
